Quetta: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Friday inaugurated several infrastructure and health projects including a health complex, the Gwadar international airport, and the Quetta-Zhob Highway, a news source reported.

The premier took part in a ground-breaking ceremony to this effect in Quetta. Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan and Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa were also present at the occasion.
The New Gwadar International Airport is part of the multi-billion China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project. The Chinese government is funding this initiative under its grant assistance programme.

The authorities concerned plan to develop the airport as a green-field facility. It would be able to accommodate aircrafts as huge as the Airbus A380. Moreover, it would comprise a modern terminal building with its cargo terminal having an annual handling capacity of 30,000 tonnes.
Speaking at the occasion, the PM said that the federal and provincial governments, in collaboration with the Pakistan Army, would establish a cancer hospital in Quetta.

He informed the participants that the Pakistan Railways would set up rail networks to link Gwadar with Quetta. For this purpose, the Railways Ministry was in talks with China.
