Hub: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan inaugurated the 1,320 MW China Hub Power Plant on Monday, according to news sources. This is one of the primary projects under the China-Pakistan-Economic-Corridor (CPEC).
The PM addressed the assembly on the occasion and said that the government is resolved to facilitate this joint project in every possible way. He called it a good sign and expressed his hope that such projects become common in the future. The PM suggested more coal to be brought from Thar to be utilised at the power plant, and said that the increased power generation capacity can drive the country out of its current shortage crises. He revealed that 6,000 Pakistanis are working on the project and credited CPEC for contributing to the economic success of the country.

The PM asked local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to collaborate with Chinese companies, and assured that the government would assist them in order to facilitate any joint ventures. He said that exploiting our natural coal and gas reserves will reduce the cost of production and imports. The Prime Minister asked the Chief Minister of Balochistan to develop the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) at Lasbella to make it easy for Chinese firms to relocate to Pakistan if they so wish.

Moreover, he hinted that an Australian mining firm might also be convinced to invest in Pakistan. The PM was adamant that the elimination of corruption was the key to attract foreign investment to boost the economy of Pakistan.
