Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has agreed to inaugurate the Clean Green Index and the clean green competition amongst 20 cities this month, a news source reported.
His approval came during a meeting with his Advisor on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam Khan held at the PM Office. Amin briefed him in detail about the five-point climate-friendly green agenda.

The agenda includes the following points:
- 10 billion tree tsunami
- Clean Green Index
- Ban on plastic bag use
- Electric vehicle policy
- Recharge Pakistan
During the meeting, the PM expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Ministry of Climate Change for their focus on the green agenda. He opined that the implantation of this agenda would place the country on the path to ecologically sustainable development.

Meanwhile, the federal government has issued an additional sum of PKR 2.25 billion for the initial phase of the 10 billion tree project. During the last month, it had issued PKR 1.50 billion for this project, in addition to the PKR 15.84 million for five other development projects.
In the financial budget (FY) 2019-20, the federal government earmarked PKR 7.5792 billion for the 10 billion tree project and six other ongoing and new development projects. Out of this total, it has reserved PKR 7.50 billion for the initial phase of the 10 billion trees initiative.

Additionally, the federal government has issued funds for the following projects:
- PKR 5 million for the Sustainable Land Management Programme
- PKR 3 million for setting up a Climate Change Reporting Unit at the Ministry of Climate Change
- PKR 4 million for establishing a Climate-resilient Urban Human Settlements Unit
- PKR 6.40 million for setting up Geomatic Centre for Climate Change
- PKR 3.2 million for setting up Pakistan Water, Sanitation, & Hygiene (WASH) Strategic Planning & Coordination Cell
