Islamabad: A ceremony was held at Prime Minister House to convert it into a university on Friday, a news source reported. As promised by PM Imran Khan, the PM House has become Islamabad National University (INU). During the ceremony, PM ensured that symbols of a colonial mindset will be eradicated from the country.
Earlier this month, a formal plan for the conversion was finalised by Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training. The university will be a postgraduate institution and is specifically focused upon emerging technologies. Additionally, fields of social sciences, applied technology, and applied sciences will also be catered.

The PM House covers an area of 1,096 kanals. According to the finalised plan, the research centre of INU will be established on 30 acres. It was proposed that the polo ground, recreational hill, and stable should be removed in order to acquire land for the research centre.
