Lahore: Prime Minister Imran Khan directed the Petroleum Division to devise a comprehensive plan for keeping a check on gas theft in the country, according to a news report. Official statistics have calculated that this is incurring a loss of PKR 50 billion to the national exchequer.
This statement has come while the Prime Minister Imran Khan was chairing a briefing at the Prime Minister’s Office, attended by Minister for Petroleum Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Additional Secretary Incharge Petroleum Division Mian Asad Haya ud Din and senior government officers.
Mian Asad briefed the PM about the existing situation vis-à-vis demand and supply in the oil and gas sector, and the progress on construction and operationalization of TAPI and Pak-Iran gas pipeline, along with other significant projects. Issues including rationalisation of gas sale prices, recovery of receivables, non-implementation and frequent alteration of policies were also highlighted.
