Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Wednesday formed a National Coordination Committee (NCC) for the promotion of tourism in the country — a news source reported. The committee will also work to improve coordination between the provinces on tourism-related matters.

The committee is expected to hold regular meetings as per the directions of the premier. The decision to create the new committee was made during a meeting, in which the PM was also informed about the 10-year National Tourism Strategy (2020-30) that was recently drawn up, along with the action plan for the next five years.
On the occasion, the PM stated that the government would focus on developing various tourist sites across the country in order to properly reflect the cultural and social values of Pakistan. He added that tourism would help promote economic activity in the country and generate jobs for the locals.

He directed the relevant officials to work on a plan for the development of tourist destinations around the country immediately. He also directed that the tourism authorities of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should be made operational as soon as possible.
