Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Monday issued directions to ensure the finalisation and implementation of appropriate standard operating procedures (SOPs) in consultation with the provincial governments – in view of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha celebrations amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, according to news sources.

Khan gave these directions while chairing a high-level meeting to review the ongoing coronavirus situation in the country. The premiere said that Eid-ul-Azha is being celebrated in exceptional circumstances and the prevailing virus-hit conditions demands for SOPs to be “expeditiously devised and rigorously implemented to protect the citizens.”
He expressed satisfaction over the measures taken to meet the medical requirements. Regarding the smart lockdown, he said that aside from the services of the Tiger Force, the involvement of local leading figures and community is needed to successfully implement the said strategy.

In a separate development, the prime minister launched the commencement of the Ehsaas initiatives including Ehsaas Langar, Ehsaas Rashaan portal, PM Corona Relief Fund website and the Panagah apps. He declared June and July to be critical months for dealing with the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic.
