Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Saturday said that after a significant reduction in oil prices, a decrease in the prices of other essential items will also be ensured, according to news sources.

He further stated the government with assistance from the district administration will take strict action against those involved in the illegal profiteering. He stressed that inflation will be controlled by bringing down the prices of essential items under any circumstances. He even issued instructions for the provincial governments of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to take measures to reduce the inflation rate.

Previously, the government had announced a major cut in fuel rates following the international reduction in the prices of petroleum price, in the wake of coronavirus pandemic. As per the government’s notification, the price of petrol was slashed by PKR 15 per litre and the price of high-speed diesel was slashed by PKR 27.15 per litre.
Furthermore, the new rates of petrol and diesel are brought down to PKR 81.58 and PKR 80.10 per litre, respectively. Furthermore, the notification stated that the new prices for the kerosene oil and light diesel will be PKR 47.44 and PKR 47.51 per litre, after a reduction of PKR 30.01 and PKR 15 in their respective rates.
