Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday (October 20) announced five new youth-focused initiatives to train the next generation of scholars and sportsmen, news sources reported.

The initiatives will be overseen and funded by the Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives. Speaking at the initiative’s opening event, PM Shehbaz stated that the government is concentrating on developing the country’s youth, who would bring innovation and creativity to the industry. He also stated that youngsters make up 65% of the country’s population and that these projects exist to foster talent and education. The minister for planning and development provided an outline of the five initiatives, which included:

- 20,000 internships for young engineers and diploma holders in the development programmes
- 75 national top talent scholarship programs on the 75th anniversary of the country to be provided with an opportunity for Master’s and PhDs in 25 top universities through open competition
- 250 mini support complex would be established for youth in three years, and the support board has been asked to organize national games from the development budget
- 20 under-developed districts’ transformation to top development districts
- Innovation support fund
