Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Tuesday (March 08) emphasised the need for vertical expansion of Islamabad in a bid to prevent its unsustainable horizontal growth, news sources reported. He said that the development of high-rise buildings in the city would help fulfil the demands for new housing units.

Reportedly, in a meeting held to review high-rise projects in the capital city, it was informed that the government is building three high-rise buildings that will have 14,400 apartments of various sizes. The premier said this would be an essential step towards providing sustainable and affordable housing for low-income households. He also emphasised the need to complete ongoing projects on time and maintain transparency in land sales.
Furthermore, PM Khan stated that the development projects would generate significant revenue through investment, which will be used to fund public welfare initiatives. The meeting also informed the premier that the ‘One-Window’ facilitation centre for overseas Pakistanis had been operationalised. The project’s goal is to assist in resolving the NRP’s problems as soon as possible.

It is important to note that the federal government has launched several apartment complexes in Ali Pur Farash, Lake View City, and G-13 for low-income families and overseas Pakistanis. These initiatives are a part of the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP).
