Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Monday (March 7) inaugurated the Ehsaas Riyayat Ration Scheme, under which 30% subsidy will be awarded on everyday essentials for 20 million families across the country, according to news sources.

PM Khan, speaking at the ceremony in Islamabad, declared that 20 million deserving households will be given monthly subsidies on the purchase of daily use items like cooking oil, wheat, and pulses to decrease the burden of inflation. He went on to say that increasing inflation is a global phenomenon; yet, Pakistan is among the few cheapest countries in the world.

Reportedly, Ehsaas Programme provided 98% of the financial assistance to deserving women in a bid to economically empower them. To encourage the education of boys and girls, scholarships were given. The premier stated that a country cannot prosper unless proper resources were provided to uplift women, especially their health and education. Moreover, the premier also added that a network of Ehsaas Nashonuma projects will be introduced to address the issue of stunted children
