Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has directed the relevant officials to take every possible measure to facilitate overseas Pakistanis, and ensure that their families back home receive the full amount of remittances consigned to them — a news source reported.

The PM was presiding over a meeting of the government’s economic team, during which he was presented a proposed incentives package regarding the remittances sent by overseas Pakistanis through legal channels.
The incentive package proposed that the banks and exchange companies should be offered special benefits for the promotion of foreign remittances. It has also been proposed that the amount of money required for such transactions should be reduced. Other measures being taken to further improve the system include the renewal of foreign exchange remittance cards.

A promotion campaign was also proposed under which the overseas Pakistani sending remittances may have a chance to win prizes through lucky draws. In addition, it has been proposed that opening a bank account should be made mandatory for people planning on travelling abroad.
