Gwadar: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday (June 03) inaugurated the six-lane Eastbay Expressway project, news sources reported. The road will be constructed under the China-Pakistan-Economic-Corridor (CPEC) to connect Gwadar Port with the Makran Coastal Highway.

Reportedly, in a visit to the coastal city, the premier also announced several road infrastructures, solar power, and reverse osmosis (RO) desalination water projects for the city. He said that the people of Gwadar have been an important part of the development phase and should be the prime recipients of the benefits of the CPEC.
During his visit, he announced the following projects for the city:
- Gwadar Seawater Desalination Plant by China
- Jingtal Gwadar Private Limited
- Hangmei Lubricant Plant
- Hangeng Agricultural Industrial Park
- Gwadar Expo Center
- Gwadar Fertilizer Plant
- 3,000 solar panels for the locals Distribution of
- 2,000 motor fishing boats through balloting
- 500,000 poor people will be added to the beneficiary list of the BISP
- 100% BISP coverage for the poor people of Gwadar

He also stated that the officials in charge of the projects should complete projects on schedule in order to benefit the country and locals. He also directed that the Gwadar Port be desilted in order to boost its berthing capacity. He also stated that the government will soon launch a 100-150 megawatt solar facility in Gwadar to give off-grid power supply to the people, who will pay the firm as energy bills.
