Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Wednesday (July 15) launched the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA)-backed letter of administration and succession certificate system for Punjab, news sources reported. The move is part of the government initiative of making the system paperless and transparent through e-governance.

After the implementation of the Letter of Administration and Succession Certificates Act, people would be able to get a succession certificate within 15 days without going through lengthy court processes. In this regard, the governor Punjab had issued the Punjab Succession Certificates Ordinance, 2021 in May.
Furthermore, the premier stated that by implementing e-governance and going paperless, corruption will be reduced and transparency will prevail in the government sector.

Furthermore, he stated that all of Islamabad’s land records will be digitised by the end of August. This would lessen the burden of court proceedings, as land disputes now account for more than half of all cases filed in courts.
The prime minister also commended the law ministry’s efforts in creating certificates and speeding up work on the project. Previously, in the event of a person’s death, the legal heirs had to travel to Pakistan to get succession certificates from courts. It is worth noting that the Sindh Government, in collaboration with NADRA, began a similar initiative in June to help citizens.
