Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has directed the Ministry of Privatisation to complete the transfers of several state-owned enterprises to the private sector within a stipulated time frame, a news source reported. Further, he stated that the government would provide every possible assistance to facilitate the completion of this process.

He expressed his views on the matter during a meeting with Secretary Privatisation Rizwan Malik, who presented a progress report on the privatisation process to the PM. The secretary said that the underperforming organisations would be privatised; along with public property which had not yielded profits for the past many years.

Members of the meeting were informed that the privatisation of Balloki Power Plant, Haveli Bahadur Shah Power Plant, Services International Hotel Lahore, Jinnah Convention Centre, and SME Bank was reaching completion, with some help of foreign aid. The processes for First Women Bank, State Life Corporation, Nandipur Power Plant, Guddu Power Plant, and Pak Petroleum Limited had been started as well. The meeting was also informed of the sale of valuable properties held by various government departments.
