Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan directed the relevant authorities to set up a timeline in regards to the Gujranwala Development Plan and deliver the execution of the project accordingly, as reported by news source published on 7th April.

The premier recently chaired a meeting to discuss various development projects, namely Gujranwala Development Plan, Rawalpindi Urban Regeneration and Nullah Leh Expressway, all under the umbrella of Punjab government’s Regional Development Strategy. He stressed the need for constant monitoring in the aforementioned projects and stated that the federal government would extend every bit of support to implement the strategy. Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, CM’s Advisor Salman Shah, chief secretary and other senior officers also took part in the meeting through a video link.

The premier noted the massive potential in Gujranwala and further elaborated that the city contributed up to 13 percent in GDP, 20 percent in exports and 40 percent in remittances. Therefore, the aim is to uplift various sectors, namely knowledge and economy transfer, specialized value chain infrastructure, manual labor development, cluster support scheme, low-cost energy, communications, urban management, rural-urban market connectivity, rural development and management, and environment.
The Prime Minister was appreciative of the overall strategy and also was firm about the promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) which would contribute to the national development.
