Islamabad: The Prime Minister (PM)’s Corona Relief Fund on Thursday collected PKR 550 million via the Ehsaas Telethon initiative broadcasted on all local news channels, a news source reported. By the end of the transmission, the total fund figure was recorded at PKR 2.77 billion.

PM Imran Khan attended the telethon held at the PM House. He stated that the entire nation had to participate in the fight against the novel coronavirus, and also advised people to practice safety precautions against the virus’ spread.
The PM also took the opportunity to extended his appreciation for the Ehsaas Cash Emergency Program. He said that the program utilised merit and computerisation for the disbursement of the funds. He also spoke about imposing a ‘smart lockdown’ in order balance keeping people safe and preventing the spread of the novel coronavirus.

PM Khan further highlighted that it was difficult to predict how long this virus situation would last. He added that the government would use the PM’s Fund for the coronavirus to help people facing financial challenges until their businesses remained closed.
