Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif has assured China of greater enthusiasm to complete all projects related to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), news sources reported on May 19.

The premier told a Chinese delegation led by Mr Cheng Guoping, China’s External Security Commissioner, that projects of strategic importance will be completed first. This includes multibillion-dollar railway projects such as the ML-1. The prime minister underlined his commitment to strengthening the bilateral partnership. He also assured the team that the Chinese operating in Pakistan would receive full assistance and optimum security.
He stated that Pakistan values mutually respectful commercial and interpersonal relationships.
It’s worth noting that both countries have entered the CPEC’s second phase, which is solely focused on connectivity and industrialisation.

In this regard, the government has launched nine Special Industrial Zones (SEZ) across Punjab and other provinces.
