Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Wednesday called on the international community to come up with a collective and comprehensive strategy on labour issues and the segment of the global population significantly affected by the coronavirus pandemic, a news source reported.

He was addressing the online International Labour Organisation (ILO) Summit on Covid-19 that had been called on his initiative. He pointed out that a number of countries depend significantly on remittances sent home by overseas Pakistanis.
Khan underlined the fact that labourers are the ones most affected by the coronavirus lockdown, and added that the future is uncertain as no one can predict how long the economy will take to recover. He said that this makes it imperative for the global community to share ideas and experiences to protect these vulnerable segments of the society.

On the occasion, the prime minister also shared details of the Ehsaas Programme and how it is being used to reduce the suffering of labourers by providing them with cash assistance after they undergo a registration process.
