Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan recently chaired a meeting held to review the progress on the mega infrastructure projects; Leh Expressway, Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project (RRUDP) and Central Business District, according to news reports published on January 6.

The prime minister stressed that the said real estate projects like these are contributing to the development of the city and should be completed at their earliest. He said that for the first time in the history of Pakistan, these projects are helping convert unutilised state-owned property into multibillion ventures, which will meet the demands of the growing population and yield employment opportunities.
PM Khan was apprised that the CBD has planned to auction seven mixed-used commercial plots in Lahore Downtown to generate investment. Other CBD plans include the construction of Pakistan’s tallest skyscraper ‘Burj-al-Jinnah’, two premium residential towers in Bab-e-Pakistan, a 500-bed hospital, CBD Square, Walton Road Flyover and Aviation Museum to commemorate Walton Airport.

The premier was told that work on the development of RRUDP, the establishment of the industrial estate, Sapphire Bay, and Ravi Chahar Bagh Society is also underway at an expedited pace. It was highlighted that an effective awareness campaign to attract investors to these projects is also underway.
In response, PM Khan called for the elimination of legal and procedural issues hindering the development and investment attraction of the projects.
