Islamabad: Khyber Pukhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan on Wednesday (July 28) briefed Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan about the provincial government’s tourism development initiatives, news sources reported.

Mr Mahood briefed the premier on the ongoing initiatives and the plan created by the provincial administration to boost local and foreign tourism in the region. Moreover, he said that tourism development will help the local economy through job creation and bring stability to the national economy. In this regard, he said that tourism development has topped his government agenda.
Similarly, in accordance with the Prime Minister’s tourism development programme, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has begun work on a comprehensive plan to convert Rawalpindi into a tourism area. The decision was taken after a meeting between Chairman RDA Tariq Mehmood Murtaza and officials from Mott MacDonald and the Urban Unit Lahore. The idea was to focus development on three tehsils: Murree, Kahuta, and Kotli Sattian.

The chairman stated that the government will provide amenities along the 123-kilometre-long road from Chowk Pandori Kahuta to Murree Lower Topa to promote tourism in the area.
