Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has urged the Pakistani populace to declare their assets and benami accounts under the recently introduced Assets Declaration Scheme by June 30, a news source reported.

He said that the amnesty scheme is a chance for the citizens to declare their properties and accounts so that they can be included in the tax bracket. He added that only 1% of the country’s population pays taxes; adding that only a few are carrying the burden of 220 million people.
He revealed that the authorities concerned are collecting information on Pakistanis who have yet to declare their domestic and offshore properties and accounts.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) recently notified the rules for the Assets Declaration Scheme in a four-page document, termed the ‘Assets Declaration (Procedure and Conditions) Rules 2019’.

The rules define four main categories: manner, conditions, payment of tax under other laws, and revision of declaration.
