Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Thursday approved the Roshan Digital Account project for overseas Pakistanis, according to a news source published on August 20.

While chairing a high-level meeting in the capital, he said that it was the government’s top priority to facilitate overseas Pakistanis and their families – as they contribute a lot to the development of the country.
Under this Roshan Digital Account project, the overseas Pakistanis will be allowed to open foreign and local currency accounts, without being physically present in the country. The expatriates will only need to offer basic documents and information to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) online.

The SBP is launching this initiative – to be formally launched in September – for the overseas Pakistanis in collaboration with eight major commercial banks in the country.
