Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan recently agreed to declare the construction sector as an industry during a meeting on Ease of Doing Business in Islamabad – a news source reported.

The PM said that the government is placing special emphasis on simplifying construction-related laws. He also stressed the need to do away with the condition of unnecessary approvals and NOCs.
Elaborating on this, he pointed out that the government has already abolished the condition of seeking approvals from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and other organisations for the construction of multi-storey buildings in big cities. He also said that the establishment of land courts will go a long way in resolving land related matters.
The PM was also briefed by Naya Pakistan Housing Authority Chairman Anwar Ali about the steps being taken to address policy issues, simplify procedures, abolish unnecessary approvals, assure the compliance of zoning and development by-laws, and other relevant issues.
He also presented short, medium, and long-term roadmaps for improving Ease of Doing Business in the construction sector. He said that the latest technology is being introduced to ensure transparency and to simplify the procedures in the construction industry.

The NPHP Chairman also explained the plans for digitalisation of land records around the country. He said that the process will help address the majority of land-related issues.
