Lahore: Prime minister (PM) Imran Khan has instructed the provincial government to start the legalisation process of the slums in the province and commence the procedure by the end of the year, news sources reported. The stepwise legalisation of the slums will start after the completion of the paper rules.
The premier has also asked for a copy of the report previously compiled by Senior Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan over the same issue. Moreover, the provincial government has started compiling the number and location information on slums in the province.
In another development, the law minister of Punjab Raja Bisharat during a high powered meeting held in the civil secretariat has accepted the suggestion of amending the regularisation scheme 2012 for shanty settlements in the province.
