Mirpur: Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi on Monday (January 12) directed the local administration of Leepa Valley to open link roads to facilitate the rehabilitation efforts underway in the snow-covered mountainous region of the valley, news sources reported. The premier asked the authorities to maintain the link road open for the tourists coming to the snow peak valley for recreational purposes.

The prime minister, during a high-level briefing about the weather conditions in AJK, ordered authorities to maintain other connecting highways and keep the tourist spots open. According to the commissioner of Muzaffarabad Division Masoodur Rehman, the government machinery is striving to keep the link route accessible to the Neelum and Leepa Valleys. Premier AJK ordered that all requirements, including weather reports, be provided to travellers in order to avert any calamity. The meeting also discussed how, in the aftermath of the recent severe rains, everyone’s attention must be on getting back to normal, with the continuing of rescue and rehabilitation activities for the people.

It was reported that the rescue apparatus, including Rescue 1122, police, and other emergency services, are cooperating in rain-stricken regions.
