The PM’s advisor praised the ban on plastic in Islamabad, adding that all the provinces will be following in the footsteps of the federal capital very soon. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is already implementing the ban, while Sindh has announced its implementation from October this year. The regulation has been tabled in the provincial assembly of Punjab, and he is hopeful that Balochistan is not far behind in their announcement either.
He announced that the ‘Clean Green Index’ programme, aimed at 20 major cities, will be launched next month. This programme will be a competition between these cities to see which one can maintain the highest levels of cleanliness. This initiative is meant to have long-term impacts by changing the behaviour of citizens.

The government is also trying to figure out ways to shift 30% of the transport industry onto clean energy by 2030. Malik said the policy will be discussed in the next cabinet meeting. Additionally, he stated that about 30 green kiosks will be set up free-of-cost in the capital so that women can sell their handmade fabric bags.
The advisor also appreciated the embassies for launching their own initiative, and playing their part in creating a healthier environment.
