Multan: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Sunday (March 06) announced PKR 500 billion worth of development funds for South Punjab, news sources reported. He said that the funds would be used for the development and socio-economic uplift of the neglected regions of Punjab.

The premier announced mega initiatives for south Punjab’s socio-economic and infrastructural development during a public gathering held at Mailsi city of Vehari district. Reportedly, in his address to the crowd, he also announced a constitutional amendment to make South Punjab a separate province to make it more manageable. He opined that establishing a new province will improve service delivery and bring the masses into development folds. The PM further stated that the administration is devoted to mass development.
On occasion, Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar announced a development Package for the Maillsi and Vehari districts. The funds will be utilised to develop a university sports stadium to enhance sewage, water supply, and road infrastructure.

Meanwhile, the NAPHDA has opened registrations for the low-cost housing project for 12 South Punjab Tehsils. The third phase of the low-cost housing project accepts applications and will continue to do so until March 9. The government has also announced a PKR 300,000 cost subsidy for successful applicants.
