Karachi: Prime Minister (PM) Shebaz Sharif on Wednesday (December 21) announced a PKR 5 billion package for flood victims in Sindh, whose houses have been damaged in the flood, news sources reported.

The prime minister visited the flood-ravaged areas of interior Sindh and announced a package to help with rehabilitation efforts. PM Shehbaz Sharif promised to do everything possible to minimize damage and provide compensation to individuals who had lost their livelihoods.
Additionally, Minister of Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal presented the Prime Minister with a ‘Resilient, Recovery, Rehabilitation, and Reconstruction Framework/4RF’ plan. This plan outlines short, medium, and long-term strategies to help the survivors. The minister briefed the premier on the government’s ongoing efforts and their plan to participate in the Geneva Flood Donor Conference taking place in January 2023.

It is important to mention that Pakistan has been devastated by some of the worst floods in decades. It is estimated that 40 million people have been displaced, and millions more have lost their livelihoods. With winter approaching, many are left without shelter.
