Lahore: The Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA) has recorded a revenue of PKR 7, 4 billion to the public exchequer under the head of ‘land transfer and management’, a news source reported on March 22. This amount was deposited within the first eight months (July-Feb) of the current fiscal year (FY21).

PLRA spokesperson Nadia Ahmad credited the increase in revenue to the introduction of technology in land records system.
Ms Nadia stated that the computerization of land records at the Tehsil level two years ago was initially provided to 152 land record centers. Currently, the same facility has been extended to more than 5,000 centers. These include 60 ganoongoi satellite centers, more than 2,800 NADRA e-facilitation centers, 10 e-service centers and 28 commercial banks. The introduction of an online payment system through credit card, debit card, Jazz cash and Easy Paisa has also been introduced.

The spokesperson stated that these steps will bring the automated system of Punjab on a par with the international standards and further steps will be taken by the institution concerned to provide convenient services to citizen of the province.
