Karachi: The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has put a limit of construction of ground plus two floors on residential plots measuring 120 yd2 in size, reported a news source. The restriction is limited to five towns of the city.
The SBCA Director General Agha Maqsood has highlighted that these five towns are Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Gulberg, North Nazimabad, Liaquatabad, and Jamshed Town. The SBCA has previously taken strict measures against illegal construction in the city, despite which builders violated the approved bills and constructed additional floors on bungalows. According to sources at the SBCA, construction of additional floors has caused an increase in population density and burdened the existing infrastructure facilities such as water, sewerage etc.
