Sargodha: For providing free saplings for initiation of plantation drive, six distribution points have formed in the division, reported a news source. The plantation drive will continue till March 31, 2019.
During the drive, 175,000 saplings will be planted in each district falling in Sargodha Division. Sargodha Deputy Commissioner Saulat Saeed shared details on the drive in a meeting held on Thursday.
Officials representing forest, education, livestock, agriculture, fisheries, environment, sports and health departments attended the meeting. During the first day of plantation drive on Friday, 18,500 saplings were planted.
As per the plan, 5,000 saplings will be planted each on forest land and land owned by the Government of Punjab. In addition to that, thousands of trees will be planted in schools, colleges, government offices and private corporates.
The deputy commissioner instructed officers from the mentioned department to play their full part in making this drive a success.
