Peshawar: The provincial and central president of the All Pakistan Local Government Workers Federation and the chairman of the United Municipal City District and All Towns (Peshawar) Malik Naveed has given a target of 3.5 million saplings to be planted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), according to a news source. This is part of the directives sent to all the municipality departments across Pakistan to plant 13.5 million trees nationwide.

He announced this target when he launched the tree plantation drive in municipality departments by planting a sapling in Shalimar Garden.
Malik Naveed went on to stress the importance of planting trees, saying it has become an essential step to counteract the effects of global warming. He warned that in the absence of efforts to stop air pollution through tree plantation, the future generations will not survive well. Moreover, he assured that all the municipality employees and representatives of trade unions will oversee this drive on their part and contribute to its successful execution.

The launch ceremony was attended by many prominent officials of the department and members of various worker unions.
