Nankana: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Saturday launched a ‘Plant4Pakistan’ tree plantation campaign by planting a sapling at Balloki – a news source reported.

The PM said that his government would protect the country’s forested areas at all costs. He lamented that Pakistan’s forest cover had shrunk greatly as compared to other countries in the region. He also directed the authorities concerned to retrieve the forest land under illegal occupation.
Moreover, the PM said that this government would create a wildlife reserve under Baba Guru Nanak’s name. He further stated that a Baba Guru Nanak university will be established in Nankana Sahib.

The PM was informed that the local administration had retrieved state land measuring 2,500 acres from land grabbers. Plans are in place to establish a forest reserve on 1,500 acres. Similarly, a wildlife sanctuary will be set up on the remaining 1,000 acres.
