Islamabad: China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority Chairman Asim Saleem Bajwa on Monday stated that the Planning Ministry’s role would not be replaced with regard to the implementation of CPEC projects, a news source reported.

Bajwa made the statement during a meeting of the Senate Special Committee on CPEC. He also briefed the committee that there was ‘no move on the cards’ for shifting the powers of the Planning Ministry to the CPEC Authority.
The CPEC Authority chairman assured the committee after its members raised several concerns on the reduction of the Planning Ministry’s power. The meeting dropped the discussion after Bajwa clarified the situation.

The chairman also informed the meeting about the ongoing work for the implementation of CPEC projects. He revealed that 19 projects had reached completion, 28 were under implementation, and 41 others were in the pipeline. He added that all projects would be completed as per the timelines finalised in the respective agreements.
