Previously, the Ministry of Finance had proposed to allocate PSDP funds worth PKR 675 billion. The ministry, however, now wants the government to increase the overall development outlay to PKR 1,000 billion for FY 2019-20.
According to an official source, the planning ministry will request the government to sanction the release of funds worth PKR 750 billion through the national exchequer. Also, the remaining funds – worth PKR 250 billion – will be secured on a public-private partnership basis.

The Planning Commission does have the authority to sanction the release of PSDP funds, but it is the Finance Ministry that disburses the amount to the departments concerned.
