Islamabad: The Planning Ministry has asked for a development budget worth PKR 1.1 trillion for this fiscal year’s budget, according to a news report. This demand has been forwarded by the Ministry of Planning, Development, and Reform prior to budget proposals. The ministry isn’t satisfied with the PKR 800 billion allocated by the Finance Ministry for the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the fiscal year 2018-2019.
The Planning Ministry believes that at least PKR 200 billion should be allocated to them, so that the next government can proceed with financing projects of their own choice. The ministry has also highlighted that most of the PKR 800 billion development budget would be consumed by the National Highway Authority (NHA), Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), and other organisations, because of which this budget is insufficient.
