Islamabad: The Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform has allowed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to commence with the development work in the stalled E-12 and I-15 sectors, according a news source.
Previously, the CDA had sought instruction from the Planning Commission regarding the two projects approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC), to be restarted under a revised PC-I.
In a letter last month, the Planning Commission had allowed the CDA to stop the development work on the projects originally approved by ECNEC and to be developed under a new PC-I that’s approved by CDA’s Development Working Party (DWP). The letter also read that the new projects may be readied with remaining/addition work scope and cost of consideration of CDA-DWP.

The Development Working Party (DWP) had approved the revised PC-I of the stalled sectors, subjected to the clearance from the Planning Commission/ECNEC.
As per the CDA officials, the E-12 sector was announced four decades ago, but the development work halted due to possession and other departmental issues. The CDA-DWP approved the PC-I (amounting to PKR 6.69 billion) for the development of E-12 in its 44th meeting. Similarly, work in I-15 (inaugurated to offer housing to low-salaried citizens) was delayed for a duration of 15-years. The said meeting approved the PKR 5.656 billion revised PC-I, subjected to waiver from ECNEC.
Moreover, partial development of the I-14 was executed. A PKR 4.24 billion revised PC-I was also approved by CDA-DWP, also subjected to waiver from ECNEC.
