Islamabad: The Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives on Wednesday provided its approval to the issuance of PKR 60.9 million for conducting a feasibility study on the construction of train link between Pakistan and Afghanistan, a news source reported.

According to the details revealed, the total cost of the feasibility study for the proposed Peshawar-Jalalabad rail link is estimated to be PKR 67 million and the authorities concerned intend to complete it by June.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) also intends to include the proposed Peshawar to Torkham rail track in th ML-I project framework – an important part of the multi-billion dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiative.

Moreover, the ministry also sanctioned PKR 488 million for three hospital projects to be developed under the Government of Pakistan’s development assistance to Afghanistan. These healthcare initiatives are Jinnah Hospital-Kabul, Nishtar Kidney Center-Jalalabad and Naeb Aminullah Khan Hospital-Logar.
