Islamabad: Pakistan and China on Tuesday agreed to maintain the current pace of development of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects, a news source reported.

A meeting to this effect took place between Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar and Chinese Ambassador Yao Jing in Islamabad.
The minister lauded Beijing’s support with regard to the establishment of the Gwadar airport project. He said that the incumbent Pakistani government accorded the ‘utmost priority’ to the development of Gwadar.
The two sides discussed several future initiatives, such as a 300MW energy project and the Rashakai Special Economic Zone. Cooperation on future projects is expected to be strengthened through a formal agreement.

The minister stressed the need for robust cooperation between business communities of the two countries. To facilitate this measure, he suggested to organise a Pak-China Business Forum where leading companies could participate.
