Under the new plan, the existing structures here will be replaced with vertical residential and commercial buildings that will be socially, financially, and technically feasible. Buildings and houses in Mayo Garden will also be replaced with more space-efficient structures; however, the plans in this regard are still in the early stages of development.
According to the chairman, the said decision was taken to better utilise the state land and reduce the maintenance cost of horizontal structures in both colonies. The issue of slums in Wahdat Colony is also expected to be addressed in the plan via construction of multi-storey low-cost residential buildings.
