Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Chaudhary Parvez Elahi has unveiled a plan to develop a five-star complex near Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore with the assistance of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), according to news published on August 30.

The project is envisioned to facilitate the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to host top-ranking international teams near the stadium. It will assist the board with the security arrangements of the visiting team and avoid any traffic woes for the commuters during tournaments.
As per the revealed details, the 25-storey complex will cost approximately USD 1 billion to develop and it will be largely funded by the UAE government. Punjab CM Elahi revealed that 70% of the project cost will be covered by the UAE and the remaining 30% will be covered by the provincial government.

It was highlighted that the said complex will include a 5-star hotel and a high-performance centre for the players. Moreover, the project plans include a tunnel leading directly to the stadium in a bid to provide foolproof security to the visiting teams. The location of the project hasn’t yet been specified but it is hinted that it will be somewhere near Nishtar Park Sports Complex, near Gaddafi Stadium.
