Lahore: South Punjab Additional Secretary (retd) Captain Saqib Zafar has revealed that a plan to set up a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Multan will be shared with the concerned department, according to news published on May 18.

He shared this information in meeting with a delegation of Multan Chamber of Commerce. Speaking to the members of the chamber, the secretary emphasised the importance of industries in driving the economy and generation of job opportunities. He shed light on the potential of agro-based industries for promoting prosperity in South Punjab.
During the meeting, the delegation made several demands including setting up of a new industrial zone in Multan, crop zoning in Southern Punjab, and allocation of land for an expo centre and small enterprises in the city.

The meeting was informed that South Punjab Secretariat is committed to developing the agricultural sector and working to revitalise cotton cultivation in the region. He disclosed that Punjab Secretariat is aware of the challenges and will address them in a special meeting with Punjab Governor and Chief Minister.
