Lahore: The City District Administration has formed its plan to permanently eradicate encroachment by confiscating the goods of encroachers, sealing their shops and filing legal cases against them, reported a news source. The formal decision in this regard were taken in a meeting supervised by Lahore Deputy Commissioner Sualeh Saeed.
Saeed instructed the meeting members, which included assistant commissioners, zonal officers, and deputy city officers, to remove all temporary encroachments in their respective areas. He also ordered that those found re-encroaching the state land should be dealt with even more sternly by sealing their units and lodging official complaints against them.
Saeed also ordered that immediate removal of encroachments from Liberty Market, Moon Market, Model Town, Icchra Bazar, Model Town Link Road, Makkah Colony, Tajpura, Shalimar Town, Baghbanpura, Nishtar Zone and GT Road. He also order the officers concerned to auction the confiscated goods of the shopkeepers in 15 days.
Saeed also said that he will pay a visit to the market in person and will take serious actions if encroachments hadn’t been removed.
For the land retried from encroachers and illegal occupants, the Government of Punjab has some plan in place. This land will be used for setting up public parks and low-income housing schemes. Reportedly, land spanning over 100,000 kanals and having market worth of PKR 143 billion has so far been retrieved from land mafia.
To use this land for public welfare, suggestions have also been sought from divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners, who are also being instructed to monitor the retrieved property around the clock.
