Islamabad: Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has finalised a formal plan to convert the Prime Minister House into a postgraduate university with special focus on emerging technologies, a news source reported. The PM House is spread over 1,096 kanals and the proposed plan is to establish a research centre of Islamabad National University (INU) on 30 acres.
Sources privy to the development said the proposed university would provide an integrated learning experience in the fields of social sciences, applied sciences and applied technology to at least 2,000 students.
The working-group, which was formed to fine-tune the proposed charter of university, has recommended razing recreational hill, polo ground and stable and utilising the land for the research centre.
INU would be set up in two phases. The first phase pertains to the establishment of the research centre while MPhil and PhD programmes will commence in the second phase.
