Lahore: The government has finalised the plan to restore Bhati Gate in Lahore and Qila Kuhna Qasim Bagh in Multan in a bid to conserve national heritage and historical buildings, according to news published in the national dailies on July 22.

Local Government & Community Development Department Secretary Imran Sikandar Baloch said that the restoration of the two structures will being soon. During the meeting, officials concerned briefed the attendees on the salient features of the conservation plans. Reportedly, a coordination board will be set up for handling the administrative matters of Qila Kuhna. The meeting members decided to make Multan’s deputy commissioner the focal person of this board.

According to the news source, PKR 500 million has been earmarked for the restoration project. Out of allocated funds, PKR 350 million has so far been released, revealed the secretary. He further mentioned that after the completion of the restoration of Qila Kuhna, facilities including tuck shops, parking, and public toilets will be provided.
