In this respect, a government-appointed committee has prepared a proposal recommending the city’s division into Lahore Saddar and Lahore City. According to the plan, Ferozwala tehsil of Sheikhupura district will be placed in one of Lahore’s two districts, with each district having three tehsils.
The government-appointed committee reviewed suggestions to separate the metropolitan corporation, Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), Lahore Development Authority (LDA), Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), police, and other ministries.
Furthermore, the committee made the following decisions:
- Ferozwala, Lahore city and Shalimar tehsils are to be merged into one district, while Model Town, Raiwind, and cantonment will be separated into separate districts.
- The provincial capital will have one commissioner, two deputy commissioners, two district police officers, two additional commissioners (revenue) and two more commissioners (general).
- The departments’ buildings, offices, and other assets will also be divided.

It is worth noting that the committee formally proposed separating Lahore into four districts in order to better manage resources. However, the proposal was rejected due to a lack of available employees and administrative concerns.
