Islamabad: The government on Friday announced a 38 % rise, amounting to about PKR 900 billion, in the Federal Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the financial year 2021-22, according to media sources.

Additionally, The National Development Programme, which includes PSDP and the provinces’ development contribution, has been granted PKR 2,135 billion, which is a 33% increase over the previous year.
Here are the details for the PKR 900 billion uplift projects:
- PKR 265 billion is set aside for transport and communications
- PKR 103 billion is allocated for energy
- PKR 99 billion will be used for water resources
- PKR 40.93 billion to be spent on housing and physical planning
- PKR 28 billion has been allocated for health
- PKR 5.12 billion is set aside for education and training
- PKR 37 billion to be used for Higher Education Commission
- PKR 15.26 billion will be used for the environment
- PKR 15.13 billion to be spent for manpower and employment
- PKR 74 billion will be spent for Sustainable Development Goals
- PKR 54 billion to be used for merged districts
- PKR 45 billion is set aside for special areas including Gilgit-Baltistan and Jammu and Kashmir
- PKR 34 billion has been allocated for less developed areas (North and South Balochistan Packages, Sindh Development Plan, and Gilgit-Baltistan Development Plan)
- PKR 5.7 billion to be used for governance
- PKR 29.3 billion to be spent on science and information technology
- PKR 15.5 billion allocated for the production sector (food, industries, and agriculture)
- PKR 37.4 billion to be used for other requirements

Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin said during his budget address that the government will pay special attention to the Diamar-Bhasha, Mohmand, and Dasu dams that are still under construction. Sukkur-Hyderabad road, Kharian-Rawalpindi road, Balkasar-Mianwali road, Sialkot-Kharian road, Muzaffargarh-Mianwal road, Karachi Circular Railway, Chaman-Quetta-Karachi Highway (N-25), and Karachi-Pipri Freight Corridor are among the projects to be launched under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement, according to the budget document.
