Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved a significant allocation of PKR 62 billion for the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar program, which aims to provide housing loans to 40,000 families by May 2025. This initiative is part of the provincial government’s broader efforts to address housing shortages and improve living conditions for low-income citizens across the province.

The program, designed to provide financial support for home ownership, has already seen substantial progress. As of now, 5,000 loans have been successfully disbursed, and over 4,200 houses are nearing completion. The CM emphasized the importance of affordable housing, stating, “Every homeless person deserves a roof over their head.”
The government is also reviewing a proposal to increase the loan cap from PKR 1.5 million to PKR 2 million, which would further expand access to housing for more individuals. In addition, the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar program collaborates with the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) and the Housing and Urban Development Department to provide ready-made homes for low-income families, making homeownership more accessible and efficient.

This program is part of a broader set of initiatives aimed at fostering economic empowerment and addressing the pressing needs of Punjab’s citizens. CM Maryam Nawaz has prioritized various sectors, including housing, agriculture, small businesses, and renewable energy, as part of her commitment to inclusive development across the province.
With the approval of PKR 62 billion for the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar program, the Punjab government is taking a significant step towards fulfilling its promise of improving the quality of life for its residents, ensuring that more families can secure their own homes by 2025.
