Lahore: The e-stamping project has contributed PKR 60 billion to the national economy, according to a news report. This was stated by Founding Vice Chancellor of Information Technology University and Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Chairman Dr Umar Saif while reviewing the performance of the e-Stamping project. E-Stamping is a flagship project of PITB and the Board of Revenue.
E-Stamp papers issued to date through this system are 2,332,545, out of which 2,145,384 are non-judicial and 187,161 are judicial e-stamp papers. Dr Umar Saif was quoted as saying that the project had successfully replaced the 117 year old stamp paper system which was introduced in the Indian subcontinent during the British rule in 1899.
